A Great How-To Book

Mary Hunt's Complete Cheapskate changed my life. I paid off everything in five years and never went into debt again. The Financially Confident Woman is equally as inspiring and easy to understand. This is my favorite graduation or wedding shower gift. Every girl from 12 to 99 should own this book.

Genius

Point blank, Mary Hunt is a financial genuis. Very down to earth with her writing so you're not lost in financial mumbo jumbo!
This book is very basic, glosses over everything she's learned and wants to teach people about managing their debt and money.
So if you want a simple read to get you pumped and started, this is definately the book to buy!
BUT... if you find you read this and want more "in depth" reading on what she's explaining, go for her original: "Debt-Proof Living". She goes more in depth and she talks about some other things not included in this book.
Look up all of her other stuff, too!
You do NOT have to be owned by your money and debt! And she helps with that! :)

Faith based advice for Western Christian women

In a nutshell, the author's financial philosophy is:
1. First, give 10 percent to God.
2. Second, save 10 percent for yourself.
3. Third, spend 80 percent on yourself and on debt reduction.
For most of my life I didn't give anything at all to God but sometime last year, 2010, I started giving around 9 or 10 percent of my gross income to God. I had difficulty following steps 2 and 3 but my goal this month, April 2011, is to start following steps 2 and 3.
I deducted one star because her book doesn't acknowledge the millions of poor Christian women in the world who have no income at all and therefore can only give 10 percent of their time and energy to God, but not any money.
